By Martins Azuwike

Following the sudden demise of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe in a chopper crash in California, US at the weekend, the Board of the Holding company, on Monday, announced Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The announcement by the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc on February 12, 2024, following an earlier statement dated February 11, 2024, sources disclosed, was communicated in a notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX by the company’s secretary, Sunday Ekwochi.

Checks indicate that Ms. Agbede, asides her wealth of experience, is also the most senior founding Executive Director in charge of Business Support within the company. Analysts say the decision marks a critical and momentous transition in the company’s annals as it moves with nimble steps to confront the challenges and new realities of unexpected leadership change.

Bolaji Agbede joined the bank in 2003 as an assistant general manager with responsibility for managing its portfolio of chemical trading companies.
